More Wii Colors on the Way?

The website GameDrift HAS reported that an "Anonymous" Nintendo Representative Revealed that Nintendo is going to release new Wii colors by the end of 2007. Below is an Excerpt from the article:

In a rather shocking revelation this weekend, an anonymous Nintendo rep revealed to GameDrift that a plan is running through the pipeline to colorize the, as of now, rather bland coloration of its hit console, Wii. The rep did not reveal detailed specifics, however did remark that a red and black console have been confirmed.

My thoughts:
Even though the validity of their source cannot be proven, I can definitely see this rumor coming true. When Nintendo launched its dual screened handheld, ds lite, it launched in only White. After months of the systems release, we were given the lite in numerous colors with unlimited success. Nintendo no doubt realizes this and will exploit it with the years to come.

Discuss in comments section:
If you had your choice, what color would your Nintendo Wii be?

Contra III: The Alien Wars - (Super NES, 1-2 players, 800 Wii Points): In the year 2636, the Alien War continues, and it’s up to two soldiers, Jimbo and Scully, to put a stop to the alien invasion. The aliens have ravaged the Earth with their powerful organic and technological weapons. Players can join with a partner and battle through six stages of nonstop run-and-gun action. Collect power-ups, including bombs, flamethrowers, spread shots, lasers and machine guns to take out the aliens. Control Jimbo and Scully as they travel through war-torn cities, race on air bikes, ride missiles and ultimately break into the alien base to defeat the alien boss once and for all.

Bonanza Bros. - (Sega Genesis, 1-2 players, 800 Wii Points): Mobo and Robo Bonanza are enjoying their favorite television show when the picture crackles and the shadowy figure of a mysterious stranger appears on the screen. This figure asks them to collect certain items that he has placed inside various buildings to test his security force. If they return the items successfully, Mobo and Robo will be rewarded. The two of them state that they will get the job done in just three minutes. However, little do they know that each building is packed with security guards who will raise the alarm if they are caught red-handed. Fortunately both Mobo and Robo are equipped with bullets that can knock the guards unconscious for a few seconds. A huge reward will be given out if Mobo and Robo are apprehended. Help the infamous Bonanza Bros. infiltrate a number of different locations ranging from banks to mansions to casinos, and don’t get caught.

Comix Zone - (Sega Genesis, 1 player, 800 Wii Points): Sketch Turner is an artist in New York City. One day while Sketch is drawing, a huge thunderstorm strikes the city. A bolt of lightning hits Sketch’s image and brings it to life. That image is Mortus, a megalomaniacal mutant who wants to become real and rule the earth. Mortus magically transports Sketch into the pages of his comic book so that he can end his creator’s life and become real. Inside the comic book, Sketch meets General Alissa Cyan, who believes he is a superhero that came to save their post-apocalyptic world from the evil brought by Mortus’s hand. Now that he’s a comic book superhero, Sketch can really put the hurt on the bad guys. Instantly, Sketch can fight like a one-man mercenary platoon.

Now if you guys don't mind, I am going to go download Mario Kart 64!!!!!

Wii Mentioned in Yahoo Article

It seems that everywhere we turn, Nintendo Wii is bound to come up somehow. While perusing Yahoo tonight, I came across an article that gave readers tips on how to flatten your stomach (I was bored at work what can I say). Much to my surprise, the fitness article made mention of Nintendo's 5th console Wii. Here is an excerpt from the article.

And that's a good thing. Working abdominal muscles will help strengthen your core and flatten your stomach (provided you burn the fat that's covering it). In fact, your abdominal muscles are some of the most important in your body because they help give you the foundation and strength to do everything in life - whether it's walking, running, having sex, or perfecting your Wii wrist movements. Abs help you move faster and easier.

Kind of funny isn't it?

Say Hello to Nintendo Wii!

Whether the game is fun, innovative, violent or "gimmicky", it seems like the Wii truly has something for everyone. With this recent announcement coupled with The Godfather, this year will be rated M for mature.

Discuss in Comment Section:
Do you guys believe that Nintendo needs these types of games in order for the Wii to succeed? I know it expands that genre's of games available on the system but violent games have never really had a place on the family friendly Nintendo. What are your thoughts?

Things you didn't know about Twilight Princess

Below are some interesting facts about Zelda Twilight Princess that not too many people know about. Enjoy.

- After defeating an enemy, press A without moving and Link will perform the cool-looking flourish move(spinning his sword before sheathing it) like he does in cutscenes. This may only work on harder enemies.

- On Epona, press A to get the speed boost then draw your sword, Link will hold it above his head like he's going in to battle.

- When going in to a group of enemies on Epona, you can do a quick dismount, and Link will hop off with a backflip. Similarly, if you mount Epona while running from the back, Link will hop up and speed off.

- You can talk to Epona when you're beast Link. She tells you to hurry up and change in to your human form.

- The night sky is an accurate representation of the real night sky. Stars are the correct brightness, and constellations such as Orion and Cassiopeia. The moon moves, but the stars stay still, however.

- Hyrule in this game is geographically the same as in Ocarina of Time. (flipped horizontally for the Wii version, as we know)

- The howling stone songs are all from Ocarina of Time. One of the Howling Stone songs is the Requiem of Spirit. Another one is the Song of Healing. Another is Oath to Order.

- Oocca are inspired by M.C. Escher's painting "Other World"

- You can find a silver rupee in the Cave of Ordeals, it's in the room with two Dark Nuts (about floor #39). Use the wolfs sense and dig for it. There is also a silver rupee in the bell in Kakariko village, you can clawshot it, or shoot it with bomb arrows, and there's one more in a chest towards the end of the game.

- In Agithas castle, you can kick pill bugs. Turn on your lantern, and the bugs will be attracted to it. Also Agitha will get frustrated if you leave her castle without giving her a new bug. Agitha can also be found outside the southern entrance of Castle Town, looking for bugs in the grass.

- If you go back to Diababa's lair a second time, there's a bottomless pit of water.

- In the fishing hole, Hena has a picture of the fishing pond owner from Ocarina of Time. If you quickly look over at Hena after looking at the Legendary Fisherman from OOT, she will be scratching her back. If you talk to her when she scratches, she makes a comment about it. In OOT, the Fisherman always was scratching his back.

- You can grow pumpkins by pouring water on them, which improves the items they give. You can also pour water on certain people for a reaction. These appear to be the only use of bottled water in the game.

- On the way to the first dungeon, you can steal lantern oil and red potions from the bird. If you run off without paying, the bird will attack you next time and call you a thief. This is a reference to Link's Awakening.

- When you open doors in a dungeon, Link opens them himself for the first time in a Zelda game. Dirt will fall off of the door the first time, but will be clean all times after that. Nice attention to detail..

- Ooccoo is the little bird that warps you out of dungeons. 00CC00 is the hexadecimal colour code for the green of Links tunic in the original Zelda. It's likely a coincidence, with Ooccoo being a play on Cocoo (the chickens).

- Fyer (the cannon guy) has a bullet bill on his sleeve.

- The Ordon Shield is a one of a kind item, you can buy a replacement at Malo Mart, but it's slightly different.

- There's a rumour that if a blue chu and a yellow chu run together, they will form a green chu. Green chu's likely existed to refil the magic meter, a feature that was eventually dropped from the game. The magic meter can still be seen in a screenshot on the back of the box.

- When you ask the fortune teller in Hyrule Castle town for your 'love' fortune, her chant is actually "Wait....loading takes a while" spelled backwards.

- If you go in to Castle town as a wolf, the guards will circle you, if you charge the midna attack and spin, they will get scared and drop items and rupees.

- In the Kakariko bomb shop there are signs that tell you not to bring in any flammable items. If you take out your lantern, the shopkeep will tell you off. If you take the lantern out upstairs, he will bang his desk and drop water on you.

- The postman can be found at various places in the game, but he's quite rare. He can be seen at several locations, including Kakariki village, Zora's Domain and even the Cave of Ordeals.

- Killing all Guays in certain areas will cause yellow and blue rupees to fall from the sky and trees.

- Links hawk can be seen flying around in any areas where there's hawkgrass.

- Fire a bomb arrow in to the sky for an instant firework!"

More Games on the Way for Wii

The good guys over at Codenamerevolution had this to say about the newly announced Nintendo Wii title Surf's Up:

If you think you have seen everything penguins can do in Happy
Feet, think again! Surf’s Up is a CGI film feature from Sony Pictures to
be released on June 8th; starring surfing penguins (and what appears to
be a chicken). The movie will also see a game to be released on the Wii,
based on the latest release list from my local distributor. The game is
being published by Ubisoft for a late May release

They have also reported that there is a "DOGZ" title in the works for Wii.

A New Day, A New Poll

Quick Update: Hello gamers, just letting you know that we have updated our weekly poll. This weeks question: When will Nintendo finally decide to release Super Mario Galaxy?

In my opinion, since the big N has announced that Super Paper Mario will be making its official Wii debut in April, my guess is we will be seeing Galaxy around holiday time. I do hope that Nintendo proves me wrong but what do you guys think?
