Nintendo Likes Nexon?

Here is a story taken from the good guys over at DigitalBattle.

In a press conference with Korean media, president Satoru Iwata has announced that Nintendo of Korea will have a partnership with popular Seoul-based online game developer and publisher, Nexon. They have brought games such as Maple Story, WarRock, and Kartrider. Nexon is known as among the pioneers of MMORPG gaming.

This now means that there will be future Nexon games on Nintendo systems. A Nintendo DS version of Maple Story was announced at E3 2006, and it is due for a release in 2007 in South Korea. Nexon only creates MMO games, so the online system of the DS would have to be revamped. Possibly user names instead of friend codes, and actual in-game communication instead of using third party devices such as your computer?

This is definitely good news, seeing as there will now be full-fledged MMO games on a portable game system, however, there are no plans to release the games outside of Korea, yet. A localized version of the Nintendo DS will be hitting stores January 2007, while the Wii will be reaching shores in Q4 2007

My Thoughts:

I say, the more games the merrier. I love the way that third party developers seem to be embracing Nintendo's way of thinking and it could only spell out good things for everyone's favorite video game company. As always, we will have to keep you updated on any new happenings. Could we see the popular Maple Story on the Wii perhaps?
